Playing games together is one of our favorite things, especially during the holidays. Here are some of the best family card games you can play at the holiday table, or any time of the year.

The Importance of Family Game Night
I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times, but spending time as a family while playing games is so important for the health and well-being of each member.
It’s great for the kids because it allows them to learn something new in their homes. It also creates a routine for them that they may want to use when they have their places. Who knows? They may even end up being the one who organizes game nights for their friends.
Playing games together helps promote sportsmanship and teamwork, and is a sneaky way to get kids to practice their reading comprehension skills.
Fun Card Games for Kids and Adults
There are so many great card games available right now. Our family loves to play card games of all kinds, even some old-school ones with a deck of cards from Bicycle. We have 14 card games for kids that are our go-to during game nights, or days when the kids exclaim “I’m bored!”
But, there are other unique, fun, and classic card games you’ll want to have in your cupboard.
Snarkas
This fun game from Hootenanny Games is one of our newer favorites. Snarkas is a highly competitive card game. We’ve played this quite a few times since our first family play, and we’ll continue to play it through the holiday season.
In this game, you collect cards, win the gems, and “Snarkas” your way to the winners’ circle. It’s so fun!
SIXEM
Even though this doesn’t use a deck of cards, we still view SIXEM as a card game since you use something similar to a bingo card. It’s another fast-paced game that also includes dice for each player, so you can just imagine how loud and fun this gaming experience will be. Another must-have for the family!
Superfight
I learned about this intense but fun card game from a YouTuber I love, and she said her boys get animated when playing this one. Their family has been playing it for years, and they’ve created lots of funny memories from playing it.
I got it for our family because Superfight is a card game where you have to “state your case” and convince everyone else that your “fighter” is the one who would win the battle. Lively and fun debates are my favorite kind of interaction in our house, so this is sure to be a new favorite for us.
What Do You Meme – Incohearent Family Edition
If you’re new to the What Do You Meme games, you’re in for a treat with this one! Incohearent is a game that went viral on social media, and the family version is just as hilarious. Incohearant Family is a game where you’ll have to guess what the gibberish says on each card. The person who first guesses correctly gets the card. The person with the most cards wins. This is a game for ages 12 and up, so if you have tweens in the house, this is a fun game to get them to slow down, sit with you for a bit, and laugh a lot.
Uno
I feel like everyone already has Uno in their home, but I wouldn’t be a good friend if I didn’t remind you how awesome this game is for family game night. There are so many new versions of Uno available now, but we still love the classic.
Disorder
If your family loves games like Scrabble or Bananagrams, you’ll love Disorder. The goal is to use your letter cards to collectively make a word. But here’s the kicker: you want to make a word with the least amount of letter cards.
The goal is to complete the word with your card but try to collect as few points as possible (each letter card has a certain amount of points on it). It feels like a competitive spelling bee but in a fast-paced card form. We love it!
