Halloween Party Apparel Made Easy

When it comes to creating a Halloween costume for me, I’m all about shopping my closet. I love to let the kids pick new costumes each year, but I tend to search for great pieces and accessories that I can use to dress up something I already have . If I don’t have to spend extra money on yet another costume, then I am all for it. One of the best ways to create an inexpensive adult outfit is to pay attention to tights. Yes tights!

A great pair of tights or pantyhose can turn an outfit into a costume in a flash. I love spotting pantyhose or hosiery that tell a story. Tights with “tattoos” on them or pictures of your favorite cartoon character are always great to go with and show off during all Hallows Eve.

During my recent trip to Duane Reade, I found some really cool fashion hosiery that would be perfect for Halloween. DR legwear has come a long way, with intricate patterns and varieties other than brown, cream and control tops. I had lots of patterns to choose from; the large polka dots and woven knit tights were favorites of mine. Once I spotted the checkered patterned fishnets, I knew I would be going Mod this year with my costume.

I added a black and white checkered mini dress, a flower power necklace, go-go boots and of course, a bob wig. I can’t wait to see the DR hosiery paired with all of the items I already had on hand. Far out!

My legs will be the talk of the party, and who doesn’t love to have their costume turns heads on Halloween? Speaking of turning heads, be sure to enter Duane Reade’s Boo-tiful Legs Contest on their facebook page. Show off your Leg Candy (Duane Reade branded legwear) from October 13 to November 3  by uploading a photo for the Boo-tiful Legs Contest for a chance to win a great prize! Good Luck!

So, tell me: what Halloween apparel are you planning to wear this year?

They really are, Kelsey. Duane Reade partners with Walgreens, so you can see if there is a Walgreens in your area. The only snag is that the DR Leg Candy hosiery is only at Duane Reade.

I was just looking at similar products for my daughter’s halloween costume. She has to dress up as a ‘haunted prom date’ for a themed party. The leg candy would be a nice touch to the prom dress we found at Goodwill!

It totally would, Diane. I bet she’d get lots of compliments, since it’s a great accent to a homemade costume.
