Holiday look by Mary Kay #MKHoliday

Disclosure: Complimentary product was provided by Mary Kay and Conde Nast for review. All opinions are my own.

Random fact: I used to be a Mary Kay consultant.

Yes, it’s true. I fell in love with the products and ended up being a full on consultant almost immediately. I even had my own little team for a while! Alas, my military and event planning life started to pick up, so I had to let it all go, but I never stopped loving the products.

When I was contacted by Mary Kay through Condé Nast to try out a few new items, I jumped at the opportunity. I was also given a challenge: re-create a  holiday look  that is advertised in December’s Glamour, Allure and Self magazines. Lindsey Calla of Saucy Glossie created the looks just for the holidays, and it was pretty fun to try to create it for my chocolate skin and brown eyes.

While Mary Kay sent a plethora of items for me to try out (check out that picture above) I most definitely had my favorites.

Mary Kay True Dimensions lipstick in mystic plumThe True Dimensions lipstick in Mystic Plum was so on point. I have been petrified to try out a dark lip for winter since I am a gloss girl, but this shade played well with my skin. Even my husband did a double take when he saw me and responded with a “Hey girl” ala the Ryan Gosling memes that are all over the place. It went on smoothly, thanks to the lip primer Mary Kay provided. It also paired well with the Mary Kay plum lip liner.

Mary Kay lash love lengthening mascara

I’m a huge mascara girl, and can be very picky when it comes to trying out new ones. The Lash Love Lengthening Mascara actually did what it was supposed to do; my lashes looked longer and even fuller, and they stayed that way for at least 6 hours. This is now on my “must keep in stock” list of beauty products.

Mary Kay makeup finishing sprayLastly, the Makeup Finishing Spray by Skindinävia worked wonders on my face. I’ve always seem finishing sprays as a waste of money. If I have a good primer underneath and a loose powder, why even bother? Boy, was I wrong. I could immediately see the difference in how my makeup laid on my skin, and the fact that it didn’t budge all day made this busy mom VERY happy.

Here is my final holiday look. What do you think? Am I ready for those holiday parties? Take a peek at how Lindsey styled these same items in her Silver Screen Siren Look, and her other looks Flapper Chic and The White Hot Suit.
