Disclosure: thank you to Disney for allowing me to attend this all-expense paid press event.
When you have to enter a secret press junket through a thick curtain and metal detector, you know it’s legit. This past Sunday, I attended the top secret STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS press event in L.A. for Disney’s #StarWarsEvent experience. Since STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS opens in December 18th, this was a highly coveted event for all journalists, and an even more amazing experience for huge Star Wars fans like me.
I was invited by Disney to attend the #StarWarsEvent, which not only included attending this press junket, but interviewing members of the The Force Awakens cast (Harrison Ford, Lupita Nyong’o, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, to name a few). Now, I get to share the behind the scenes action we experienced during the press event. What better way to share then through pictures?
I met a few droids:
I partook in some green screen action with BB-8:
I even enjoyed some Light Side and Dark Side ice cream from Ample Hills Creamery of Brooklyn, NY.
My blogger friend Amy, from MomSpark.net, enjoyed it with me. We both agreed that the Light Side was our favorite. A big thanks to Carol from All Mommy Wants for taking our photo!
The merchandise game for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is strong, y’all.
I need this purse in my life.
I also need these The Force Awakens mugs, especially the Kylo Ren one. #IHeartHimSoHard
Have you gotten your Star Wars Google Cardboard from Verizon yet? We got to try them out at the press event, and I was blown away by how cool they are. If you have a Verizon store in your area, be sure to grab one.
There was also some amazing fan art on display at the press event. This one called to me, since it has an anime movie poster feel to it.
Besides the intimate interviews that we attended (more to come on those soon), we also got to sit in on The Force Awakens panel, where Carrie Fisher and moderator Mindy Kaling had everyone belly-laughing. Here’s a clip of the interview:
As if the whole day of Star Wars excitement wasn’t enough, we were surprised with a special evening at Disneyland to attend Season of the Force!
We rode Hyperspace Mountain, watched STAR WARS: Path of the Jedi (it was amazing!), and ate Star Wars inspired deliciousness. It’s always fun to eat a First Order sandwich in a Han Solo in Carbonite box. Always.
Season of the Force is currently available to experience at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, so make plans to attend them! You won’t regret it.
After our long and eventful day, I had to lay in my bed and reflect over it all. Not only was the Force strong with all of us that day, but the Disney magic showed out as well.
Tomorrow, I’ll share what we learned from Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford. If you think you know everything about this scruffy-looking nerd-herder, you are going to want to read this Harrison Ford interview. He blew us away with his answers. Stay tuned!
