If you are a mom, you are probably carrying around the dreaded “Mom Purse.” Yes, it’s that purse that is full of all things necessary to keep life going when you have kids with you all the time. It’s stylish, yet functional. And the whole world is included in it. Have you ever seen Mary Poppins? Yup, that bag. With each season, we change up what we keep in there, and what items will help keep our family members healthy during the winter and holiday season. Here are a few things that are purse must-have for winter, when it comes to me and our family.
Travel Tissue
It’s always one time that you don’t have tissues in your purse, that you need them. Always. Make sure you have a packet or two available at all times. My son even keeps his own pack of tissues in his coat pocket. I grab the 4 pack of travel tissues from CVS, and hand them out. Mom always has 2 packets ready to go in her purse, too.
Sunnies
Have you noticed that it’s WAY brighter outside once it snows? The sun reflects on the white, pristine snowfall, and blinds the heck out of me. If you think you need sunglasses in the summer, you need them even more in the winter. Make sure you have them at the ready!
Pain Relief
Yes, I’m THAT mom. If you are ever out with me, and ask for some kind of pain reliever, I’m sure to have it. It always seems like the winter time is when everyone needs it. Maybe it’s the holiday stress, or from shoveling too much snow, but someone always asks for a pain reliever. I keep the All Day Pain Relief from CVS in my purse, since it’s a better bang for my buck (one pill for the whole day), and the bottle is small enough to take up less room in my purse. If you head hurts, come sit by me.
A Paper Planner
I’m finally on the paper planner bandwagon, and can’t even imagine not having it! I used to use my phone for planning, but I’m finding that being able to start the year with a paper planning makes me feel more organized. Winter is the perfect time to make planning a habit, so have a planner in your purse to remind you to do so. I picked a small travelers planner, so it wouldn’t take up too much space in my purse.
Lip Balm
Am I the only person who carries around 3 sticks of lip balm all the time? No? Good. While I love having lip balm in my purse all year round, winter seems to be the time when we REALLY need it. If you can find one that has SPF, definitely grab it. Matter of fact, grab 3.
Markers and a Pen
A mom without permanent markers in her purse is a rarity. Just like the tissues, as soon as you don’t have markers, that’s when you desperately need them. A black one and a red one; add them in there, yo.
Vitamin C
Raise your hand if you are prone to getting sick in the winter. :raises hand: Once winter shows up, you will always see me with a travel pack of vitamin C chewable tablets. While I can keep them in my bathroom, or near my vitamins, I find that if they are in my purse, I remember to give myself a boost while out and about. Over the years, I’ve been less sick in the winter because I make sure to up my intake of vitamin C.
Your Wallet
Um, yes. Don’t forget this. Ever. If I’d never left my wallet at home, I wouldn’t have to list this. But, I have. It’s not a good look.
Antacid Packets
Have you seen these lovely things yet? I’ve discovered them this year, and I’m so excited to add them to my purse must-haves this winter. During the holidays, we tend to go a little overboard with the hearty meals, treats, snacks, and cocktails. Like the pain reliever, I’ll be the mom handing out the antacid this winter. I love how compact they are. I can place them in the small part of purse, and have them ready to go.
Great ideas.
Thank you!
You’re welcome, Claire!
