It’s the holidays! This is the most fun time of the year, for parents and kids. It’s also the time of year we can get creative, without having to put much effort into it. Decorations of all kinds are all over the stores. If you shop at Family Dollar like we do, you find some great ones that are within your holiday budget. This DIY Santa Station was created after a fun trip to Family Dollar, and it’s full of magic.
What’s a Santa Station? It’s a place where the kids can write to Santa Claus, while enjoying some treats themselves. It’s a place to make your Christmas list, have a cup of cocoa, and grab a piece of chocolate to go. It’s a small spot in your home that you probably don’t use much, but you can turn into a direct connection to the jolly man with a big belly.
It’s all about the ambiance with a Santa Station. We found this cute mini Christmas tree for one dollar, and knew it would be perfect for our station. The placemat was also a one dollar find at Family Dollar, and it’s going to be the perfect place to put Santa’s cookies on Christmas Eve.
Special holiday candy is always a good idea in our home, and we love to leave a few pieces for Santa too. This little holiday jar was too cute to pass up, and I knew it would be the perfect place to house the Andes chocolates we found at Family Dollar.
The cocoa caddy is probably my favorite part of this DIY Santa Station. A colorful bucket for storing, two mugs for my two older kiddos, and some hot cocoa packets. They can make a cup of cocoa, and ponder what they are going to ask Santa for this year.
Speaking of Santa, this Santa List is easy to make. Grab a plastic photo frame from Family Dollar (this one was only one dollar), flip the paper around so the white part is in front, and write “Santa’s List” on the top. Give your kids a dry erase marker, and have them write their list to Santa. Here’s the fun part: when they go to bed at night, take note of what they asked Santa for, then erase the list. When they wake up, tell them that their list was transported to Santa Claus! Talk about magic.
These battery-operated candles called to me when I saw them in the store. Luminaries during the holidays are always a good idea, and the fact that these candles glow continuously adds a warmth to the DIY Santa Station.
This was so easy to put together thanks to Family Dollar and their Smart Coupons program. I was able to look for deals on holiday decor, candy, and even the hot cocoa!
