Gamers, mobile app lovers and arcade gurus get ready for all kinds of fun from Disney Interactive. During the Disney Interactive panel at D23 Expo, we learned about Disney Infinity 3.0, Kingdom Hearts III, new Disney mobile apps, Star Wars Battlefront, and more!
Disney Infinity 3.0
Let’s talk about the gaming system that my family has been obsessing over for the past few months. Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, the latest installment of the best-selling “toys-to-life” video game from Disney Interactive will launch on August 30th in North America. During the panel, we learned about new Play Sets, characters, and other surprises. To continue the Star Wars™ The Force Awakens excitement, the new edition of Disney Infinity will feature The Force Awakens characters Finn and Rey. John Boyega and Daisy Ridley were there to reveal the new character figurines, and even gave them away to two members of the audience!
A new set of limited edition Light FX Star Wars™ character figures were unveiled, and will be available for purchase this holiday season. The figurines have lightsabers that light up when placed on the Disney Infinity base. How cool is that? There were also announcements about a Marvel Play Set to be released soon: Marvel Battlegrounds. Peter Pan will be another addition to Disney Infinity next year. For more information on these additions, including new Zootopia and The Good Dinosaur power disks, check out this posts from Disney Interactive: New Figures and Toys for Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition.
New Disney Mobile Apps
Disney’s Magic Kingdoms was announced during the panel, and when I mentioned it to my husband, he just about lost it. We love playing Disney mobile apps during our free time, and the biggest kid in my house (my husband) has played them all. Disney’s Magic Kingdoms lets players create their own Disney Parks, right on their mobile devices! It all starts with the castle, of course, then you build around it. We can’t wait to create our own version of Walt Disney World. I predict Dole Whip stands on every corner!
Kingdom Hearts III
If you are a big fan of Disney Interactive gaming systems, you know all about the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The big announcement was the addition of a Big Hero 6 world. We’ll see the return of Baymax, since the world will take place after the team was created. The release date for Kingdom Hearts 3 wasn’t revealed, but fans believe the date will be announced at the D23 Expo in Japan in November.
Playmation by Disney
If you’ve read my full post dedicated to Playmation, you can tell that I’m really excited about this new addition to Disney Interactive. A toy that encourages kids to jump, roll, hide, and MOVE is right up my Disney backlot alley. I love that the system can be played indoors and outdoors! This gaming system that based on active play is sure to be a hot ticket item this holiday season. You can pre-order it now, or learn more about it here: Cool Toy Alert – Playmation by Disney.
Star Wars Battlefront
We had to finish the article with something Star Wars related, right? Adam Boyes, the VP of Publisher Relations at EA Games, took the stage to share information about Star Wars Battlefront. The highly anticipated game will be released on November 17th, but that’s not all. In true Star Wars fashion, Playstation has decided to take us to a galaxy far, far away with a new Darth Vader- Inspired PS4 system. This very special limited edition system will be available as part of two Star Wars bundles! The other bundle is a Star Wars themed Disney Infinity 3.0 bundle.
According to Boyes’ blog post on the Playstation website, “The Limited Edition Star Wars Battlefront PS4 Bundle will include a custom 500GB limited edition PS4 system, and DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller inspired by Darth Vader. The fully customized PS4 features an image of Darth Vader, as well as a repeated Star Wars logo across the top of the system. The Darth Vader edition DUALSHOCK 4 is inspired by Darth Vader’s chest panel and features the repeated Star Wars logo on its touchpad.” Needless to say, my husband and I are losing it over this gaming system. His birthday is actually November 19th. During the panel, I sent him a picture of the upcoming system and remarked “Happy Birthday.” I’m now the best wife ever, and I haven’t even pre-ordered it for him yet!
