Our 5 year old girl is new to the back-to-school clothes shopping experience. Last year, she wore a uniform to school each day, so we never did an official shopping experience for her. When we shopped for her older brother, we ended up purchasing a few things for her as well. But, she never had a shopping experience just for her. This year, we decided to have her pick her first back-to-school outfit at Kmart.
Being a mini fashionista, I was leery of taking our only girl to Kmart. Would they have a selection that she would be excited to choose from? Would they have her size in stock? Would there be enough pink items to satisfy her color obsession? Well, there was all of that, and more.
She immediately gravitated to the cute dresses that were throughout the girls section. Many were perfect to transition from summer to fall, and even from fall to winter. But, she couldn’t take her eyes off of this outfit from WonderKids.
The pink sweater with the polka dot leggings was a combination that she loved, and I appreciated the price. I also love that each piece of the outfit can be paired with something else in her wardrobe. She can wear the sweater with a pair of skinny jeans, or pair the polka dot pants with brightly colored dress.
We had to grab a pair of fashionable shoes to go with her new outfit. These sparkly slip-ons from Joe Boxer were perfect. While my girl is all about her style, she does love to get rough and play. Her new sneakers will be able to keep up with her, until she grows out of them.
Her first back-to-school shopping experience was a success. She’s already asking when we can go back to Kmart to get a few more awesome outfits. Judging from our budget and the prices in-store, I’d say pretty soon.
Love the outfit and the excitement she has for a new school year. As a teacher, this excitement warms my heart. Foster that excitement for learning and for fashion. She could be very successful someday doing something she loves! Happy Fall!
Thanks so much, Candy!
