The full slate of Disney films and Fox films for the next 7 years was just released to the internet, and everyone is freaking out in a good way. Since the Disney and Fox merger is officially completed. We are getting a plethora of awesome films over the next few years.
This post has the full slate list, as well as a brief discussion of film announcements that are currently causing a virtual uproar. I’ve written about the full list of 2019 Disney movies, but this is upping the ante for you.
3 NEW STAR WARS films
Let’s start with the obvious. Being huge Star Wars fans on this site, we have to talk about our obsession first. We will be blessed with 2 new Star Wars films, starting in 2022. The films are slated to premiere December 2022, December 2024, and December 2026. We still have no idea what the storyline will be, or even if this will be a trilogy, but we can still prepare ourselves for awesomeness.
4 NEW AVATAR films
We were told the Avatar franchise would be in theaters over the next few years, but we were finally giving dates. Due to the Star Wars films announcement dates, the Avatar franchise has been pushed back from December 2020 to December 2021. We will get a new AVATAR film in-between the Star Wars films.
CRUELLA Stand-alone film
Emma Stone is set to star in this film featuring one of my favorite Disney villains. We now have a date for Christmas 2020, which is fantastic. With Maleficent hitting theaters in fall of 2019, it will be great to get another villain movie one year later.
GAMBIT IS CANCELLED
Oh Gambit. The internet wasn’t too happy with the announcement of Channing Tatum playing this card-throwing X-Man, and I guess that was enough to cancel production.
ARTEMIS FOWL and NEW MUTANTS pushed back
Marvel’s New Mutants was on the slate for 2019, but we learned that it is now being pushed back — again — until 2020. Hopefully, this means they are putting more into making this film legendary. The same goes for Artemis Fowl, which has also been pushed back from August of 2019, to May of 2020.
