52 Week Savings Challenge List – The Best Ideas

Sharing is caring!

The best parts of January planning are new year money saving challenge ideas we see all over the internet. After seeing them all, it can get a little overwhelming. This 52 week savings challenge list is here to help you find the money challenge that fits your lifestyle.

How to Use These 52 Week Savings Challenge Ideas

Like I said above, these 52 week savings plan ideas can get a bit overwhelming. But, there are easy ways to make sure you get them done, and keep it fun in the process.

  • Schedule your deposits in advance. Most of the money challenges tell you exactly when to deposit your money. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or monthly, schedule those reminders in your planner or as alarms in your smartphone.
  • Look at your budget first. Saving $5000 is all well and good, unless you have a low yearly income. If the savings challenge will take up more than 5% of your income, reevaluate if you can do that particular challenge.
  • Find a savings challenge buddy! These savings plans are way more fun with a friend. If you need to find a savings buddy, join our Facebook Group! We have a blast in there, and love to do challenges like these.

Listen. The easiest way to save $5000 in a year is to just put aside $100 a week. Boom. Done!

The way this would work is if you receive a weekly paycheck of $1000 or more. You’d save 10% of your take home pay per week. You could even put this savings on autopilot by having the $100 put into a savings account weekly.

But, if you need a more fun way to save, or alternating the weekly savings amounts works best for you. Try these options.

52 Week Money Challenge for $1000 or more

The $1000 52 week savings plan challenges seem to be the most popular, probably because Dave Ramsey says that your starter emergency fund should be $1000.

While the easiest way to save this amount over a year is to put away 20 dollars a week, it sure is boring. Ha! If you do this savings plan, you’ll actually end up with $1040.

We’ve shared our favorite 52 week savings challenge before, and it still is the simplest way to do it. The reverse savings plan (pictured above) is key for those on a tight budget, but want to make a big savings impact. Plus, you actually save a little bit more if you use the savings plan above. Win-win.

3 new 52 week savings plans

Another way to save $1000 in 52 weeks is to do it monthly. We call it a bulk savings plan. If you save a certain amount per month, you can view savings as a monthly “bill.”

This is a great option for someone who has never saved before, since tackling a monthly deposit gives you a quick win at the beginning of each month. You can use the savings plan in the picture above, or try this one to get a true $1000 yearly savings.

Daily Money Saving Challenge

A habit is formed after 21 days, so taking on a daily savings challenge is one sure way to get you to enjoy saving small amounts of money. Remember the small amounts lead to big change!

When we first started our savings journey, we decided to save every 5 dollar bill we could find. For some strange reason, we started to FIND 5 dollar bills almost daily.

I know that’s why we love saving now. That little money challenge, and burst of manifested money, got us to see the power of saving.

The bonus of doing this savings plan is that you can do it each month of the year. If you do this challenge for the whole year, you’ll end up saving $1235! Since 7 of the months have 31 days, you’ll get in an extra $35. YES!

This daily saving challenge is fun because it starts off small, and moves up to $5 daily savings. This is also a great money challenge for kids to do. Here’s the simple way to save $100 in 30 days.
